An ornate golden chandelier hung high above my head as I stood at the foot of the stage of The Moore Theater in Seattle. The anticipation I felt for this show was mutually shared between the other photographers and the attendees. Any sign of someone on stage whether it was a glimpse of a potential musician or stage hand, clapping and hollering would ensue. All of this excitement was rightfully due.
I don't want to say too much more about the show but I will tell you that it was magnificent.

For now, I'd like to share with you the handful of photographs I've selected from Ghost's show at The Moore Theater in Seattle on October 14, 2016. I've also included a little bit of breakdown for what I dealt with and how I photographed the show.
Marissa Nadler
Marissa Nadler opened the show for Ghost. Her music set the mood for the evening.
With only two people on stage it would seem fairly straightforward to photograph but with very low light and not a lot of movement from the musicians, it took me some time to figure out how I wanted to photograph Marissa Nadler. I used double exposures in an attempt to bring some of the feeling I felt from her music to a visual representation.
Ghost
Ghost's set was exhilarating to say the least. Doing the math, I was in the pit for about 13 and half minutes but it went by in a flash. I was enamored with their stage presence, lighting design, use of fog and performance while I could shoot. It was obvious how much they cared about the aesthetic appearance of their set and it certainly brings any attendee into the world of Ghost.
Photographers were limited to the edges of the stage due to confetti cannons in the center of the stage. I wouldn't say it was easy to photograph their set with this but there were many photographers all trying to do their job as well. We were all very close. Apart from that, it was great. Lighting as mentioned before, was fantastic. While it was flashy at times and ranging in color as well as in brightness, it never felt overwhelming or pointless. Every cue was deliberate and made it a joy to photograph.
This was a show of a lifetime for myself and I'm very grateful to have been able to cover it.
If you have any questions or comments please let me know.
Listen to their music and go see them as soon as you can.
